Lower Spherical
This aberrations has a strong softening effect on a telescopes performance. The light is partially moved from one side of focus to the other side. That way one side will look brighter than the other.

Both the in-focus (4x enlarged middle image) and the out-focus images tell a clear story going from 1/5 wave Lower Spherical to 1/3 wave lower Spherical. The images on the left have lost quite some light that has mainly moved to the right at the focal-point things also have changed. The first and second diffraction-ring got a brighter.

Again as a comparision the perfect 6” refractor against a 0.25 wave LSA telescope.  Colors and details are completely washed out.
