INTRODUCTION
The Aberrator is freeware that generates star-testing images to show the effects of  aberrations(distortions) influencing the quality of a telescopes performance.

Images of this kind are nicely documented in  "Star testing Astronomical telescopes: a manual  for optical evaluation and adjustment " by Harold Suiter. The Aberrator does not replace this well written book but can be used as a companion guide.

I hope you enjoy the software and if you have any questions or suggestions please mail me at aylin.cor@wxs.nl.

THE PLAN
The idea to make a program like the Aberrator I got after studying many internet-sites on star-testing and often the effects of certain aberrations were only available as literal descriptions. Only every now and then images (often drawings) where available. To study these images and being able to play around with different amounts of aberrations is the goal of the Aberrator software

Cooperation
Exchange of data with telescope design software has been arranged for ATMOS, MODAS and OPTIX. These programs allow  users to export wavefront errors for display to Aberrator.
